I'm Back!

I haven't written in a while... lately i have been feeling crappy =/. I got a cold bc of the stupid weather, so then i decided to buy cough drops. I picked out some sugar free ones bc that's best for the teeth! =) BUT i kinda overdosed on them! I ate almost the whole bag and then felt it bad! My poor stomach hurt soo bad! The bad says "sugar free" all over the bag in every language but it can't tell you that if u eat too many you will be sick to your stomach!? lol

The red and white at the top says sugar free in all languages... lol

Anyways other than that things have been good. Yesterday we went to this really cool thing! We went where they go practice for ski jumping! But its only for kids so it was soo cute! It was in the middle of the forest so that was fun! I took tons of pics =).

This is where the kids practice when there is no snow =). It was soo cute there were some kids that were like 4! That little blue thing flying in the middle is a kid jumping.

Calling mother nature.... can you hear me?

Man these Germans really are a lot bigger than me... haha (Chair at a restaurant)

Today i was actually really excited and then really sad in like the same second... We went to go pick strawberries in a field! And when we got there it was "closed" =( I was soo sad! Because today the sun was actually out and it was up to 18 degrees!! It was even warm enough to roll up my sleeves I was so excited!!I think we will go on wednesday... We'll see! So instead we went to the Chemnitz park and acted like kids!

Haha!! I love self-timer!

hehe... i got really dizzy, can u tell from my face? lol

Here is the berry field that was closed =(

Ok so this was more pictures than writing but you know that saying... "picture's worth 1,000 words..." =) I shall sleep now, I still feel pretty crappy ... tomorrow will be a better day! Peace~

Did you find them?

The answers are here:

1. I am wearing a sweater!!!
2. That big white box it's a heater.... and it's on.
3. That yellow thing hanging outside... that used to be part of our shower.
4. Yes, those are binoculars.

So today Dirk and I went to a million different offices around town. It's a looong story but basically we are trying to get our Seguin, Guadalupe County marriage licence to be valid in Germany! Everything here has to be so "official." We need to get a translator (which are sooo expensive! So Memo, I think i figured out your future... become a translator and you will make big bucks!) Anyways, I was freezing the whole time we were walking around the city and taking trams from office to office until the final stop A MALL! It is the mall that is connected to the "central tram station" (aka 'zenti') When we got off of the tram i saw that big clock thingy they have there with the temperature and it read 7!!!!!!!!!!! 7 freaking degrees Celsius! (45* F) Are you kidding?? It is JUNE.....? right? So we went in and bought a jacket!! I was soo angry that 1, i was buying a jacket in june, and 2 that i have a million at home without use!.

Does this look like summer to you? Noooooooo!

The heater, it is on. Upon my request of course. They were like what?! It's summer?? Why the heater? I was like hell-O?? Apparently just because it is the month of June doesn't mean it gets warm around here. I sleep next to this nice heater =).

Dirk and I kinda re-did the shower a little. I'm spoiled and like a shower curtain =). They have a tub and i guess I'm clumsy because after i would shower the WHOLE restroom would be soaked! So "we" installed a new shower head, and a curtain! Now the old one was left outside to dry...for now. We have already been informed that once we leave it will come back! hehe :P

And the binoculars.... The first day we got here, I asked why there were no curtains in the windows and my mom-in-law said it was so the 'sun could come in and plus then you can't spy on the neighbors.' (in the most non-creepy way possible) I was like...? huh The neighbors are really far away! And that is when she pointed at the binoculars and started cracking up! I think she was joking for the most part... but I have taken it up as a hobby! hahaha jk! YEa... mostly to check for ugly clouds coming my way to ruin my sun-time! grrrr

So yes, i am angry at the weather and it better get better soon because who knows what i will take it out on next! The whole restroom has been re-vamped what is next the kitchen!? I just have to leave these peeps house how they like it man... hehe

p.s. I have confirmed my mom-in-law is in fact human! The warmest, kindest ever by the way. She ate the food I cooked TWICE aNd, Dirk said he thinks he saw her go in the bathroom yesterday morning! ;)

Little cooked stars

This morning as I was getting a plate to make my breakfast I saw a plate that looked familiar. The kind of familiar that brings back unwanted memories. It was a plate with a little star and clouds painted on the side and cooked on.

I made a comment to Dirk about "my plate" and he was like huh?? And that is when Dirk's sister said (in german, which sounds way funnier) "Oh, yea those are the plates that we marked for when Mari came with that weird disease!" LOL! With that, i just had to let go of the negative memories and crack up! The doctor had told us that i needed to use paper plates and utelsils to prevent from spreading the disease. They refuse to use paper plates here (because it destroys our environment!) so when I came for Winter 2007 they had a whole set of plates just for me! =)

To top it off later we were telling one of our friends about "my special plates" and he said "oh yea, you had that disease that we only get like 17 cases of a year and they are quarantined for like a month! You just smuggled it in." I was like nice... hahah. No wonder no one discouraged me when I told them I was flying back home because i was too sick. They all probably let out a sigh of relief!

P.S. I really want a cute/better template does anyone know how to do that??

Ich koche auf Deutsch - (I cook in German)

So, soon after we arrived i told Dirk we needed to set a routine or schedule for eating. (For those who know me this is typical of me haha.) So I asked his mom "what is your eating schedule in your home?" and she replies, "sometimes we eat, sometimes we don't." So0 i was like well... THAT doesnt really work for me... haha. Soo i talked to Dirk and we figured i could just cook since I'm used to cooking everyday anyways. The only thing is that

1. i am used to cooking for two and
2. it would get really expensive to cook for 5 (+1 sister's bf seems to be here a little longer than expected.)

We figured we could go half and half for the cost of food with his mom, but when we told her our idea she said that she is fine with me cooking but that she wants to buy all groceries. That sounds good! So she said i can cook whatever and whenever i want and whatever amount too! She said if there is not enough for everyone it doesnt matter because they are used to it haha =).

So there there i go cooking German style for the first time. It was interesting haha. It felt a little funny bc i felt like i was looking through someone's kitchen. So i got some raw chicken looking meat in the fridge, some "paprika" (red bell pepper), zuchinni, onions and some garlic.

Sidenote: You know they have so many different types of trash here?? The plastic, paper, glass, even one for batteries and organic stuff!

When I oppened the little door to the spices i was like whha?? Haha the names of the spices are so different!

I just picked a couple and hoped for the best! While i waited for the veggies to saute, i read the package from where the meat came out of and it said it was "Pute." I asked Petra, what is this? (Wondering if i was cooking up some weird meat) She said "Ah.. es ist Puta!" I was like WHAA? LOL!! That's how its pronounced! Isn't that hilarious!? Turns out it is "female turkey". Anyways, my dinner was looking good and almost ready so i got the bread slicer (appearantly it is a common household item here) and sliced my bread.

Soo that was my frist time cooking in Germany. This story was wayyy longer than it had to have been sorry... haha!

The in-laws...

It sounds kinda scary no? "In-laws" but i'm soo glad that i am blessed with nice ones =). I am starting to better adapt to living here now. They are all so nice but man they are weird! haha Not that I'm not weird but they are just different weird u know?

My brother in law is really nice, we don't communicate much, must be the language haha. But we do like to gang up on Dirk!! hehe

My sister-in-law is really funny and cute when i asked her for a towel to shower she ran to her room and looked for one that best suited ME and she gives me this:

HAHA!!! Nice... a mexican banana? That made me laugh. So now this is my towel of the week =).

My mother-in-law is awesome! Although i am convinced she is an alien... you know the good kind? haha. I never see her eat, shower, or go to the bathroom!! I do wake up waaay later than her but still!? She drinks crazy amounts of coffee ALL day don't you think you would have to pee at some point? lol She is also super uber nice! She is one of the sweetest persons i know. And realllllly positive, NOTHING in the world can upset her! It's really not normal... haha but in a good way! She can also drink really large amounts of DARK dark beer and be ok to drive (without peeing first). Doesnt that make you wonder too??? lol
That's beer in that huge glass... looks like coke right?? I'm just staring wondering if shes actually going to finish that second giant thing of beer and then drive us home?! haha

Here I introduce to you my weird but awesome in-laws! It really explains a lot about Dirk! haha. =).

P.S. I have now changed the settings so that anyone can post comments! All you have to do is pick "anonymous" but then sign your name after your comment and thats it! =)

Random Thoughts...

So, I decided I should start a blog since I will be in Germany for the next two months with really nothing to do but live. =) I figured it is a good way of expressing myself without having to translate every thought or feeling i have. I can just ramble on as i wish here and not have to worry about punctuation, spelling or conjugation! That i like. So as of now... we have been here 2 or 3 days i cant really tell since we are so jetlagged we have been sleeping on and off and the weather really sux right now so i can never really tell what time of the day it is... I can't wait for it to start looking like summer! They said it was very hot and nice right before we got here... figures! O well. For now the clouds and rain must be my friends...
